Imagine a form of advanced wound care that’s entirely non-contact and painless. No needles, no injection, nothing but a mist sprayed on your wounds – that’s not something from science fiction or the future. It’s UltraMIST. UltraMIST Ultrasound Healing Therapy can help in a variety of ways. It’s just one of the many innovative wound treatments for our patients here at West Coast Wound Care. This may not be right for every patient and every wound, but there are patients for whom it will be the best treatment possible.

What are the Benefits of UltraMIST?

As you might imagine, the fluid from UltraMIST can do a thorough job of cleansing your wounds. But, it can also do so much more than that. For example, it can help to reduce the pain you might experience from your wound. Often, we’ll turn to UltraMIST for those wounds that haven’t really responded to other treatments. Alternatively, there are some wounds that can’t be debrided safely or effectively. UltraMIST has shown that, when other alternatives fail, it can help. Beyond that, we’ve seen that UltraMIST can cut down on bacterial overgrowth significantly as well. For many patients, UltraMIST has been shown to lessen inflammation and even improve blood flow. Perhaps the best benefits of UltraMIST, however, are that it’s pain-free and contactless.

How Does UltraMIST Work?

Basically, the mist soaks into your wound, providing deep healing over time.

During an UltraMIST session, we’ll remove any wound dressings and make sure that your wound is as clean as possible. Next, one of our techs will bring over the UltraMIST machine. Imagine a magic wand, or a handheld ticket scanner – it looks sort of like that. The tip of that wand has what’s called a “metal transducer.” That metal transducer both sprays saline into your wound in a very gentle fashion while emitting ultrasound waves. To be clear, that’s all your wound ever comes into contact with. Just saline and ultrasound waves. That’s it. These sessions are short, too – the longest tend to go around 20 minutes and some of those don’t even go five minutes. As with all of our other wound treatments, we make sure to tailor this to your exact, specific needs.

How Do I Know If I’m a Good Candidate for UltraMIST?

UltraMIST can work with a wide range of people. We’ve found it’s a great alternative for folks who need injections or medication just to be able to deal with wound debridement. If your wounds contain dead tissue with at least some granulation, or the wound area really lacks blood flow, then you could be a good fit. If you’ve got significant tissue injuries around your wounds, then UltraMIST could be very effective for you as well.

The Advanced Wound Care Treatment Our Patients Deserve

There’s really no age range on who UltraMIST can treat. Basically, no matter what age you are, UltraMIST can help. Now, if your wound is very large, then you may not be best treated with UltraMIST. The truth is that, for those with very large wounds, the time it would take UltraMIST to do the job may be best handled by some other form of treatment. Here at West Coast Wound Care, we have many different kinds of treatments. UltraMIST is a very effective and popular treatment, yes, but it’s just one kind of treatment. When you contact us, we’ll go over your situation. With that information, we’ll determine the best way to provide holistic treatment to not just your wound, but to you as well. To see how we can help, schedule an appointment through our site.
